Exilis Elite Body Contouring

What is Body Contouring?

Exilis is a treatment for those with stubborn, mild to moderate fat deposits. It is a non-surgical, safe and reliable treatment offering an alternative to invasive treatments such as liposuction. The technology incorporates radiofrequency with ultrasound to heat, destroy and kill fat cells, as well as tighten the skin for enhanced results without downtime. With this treatment, we can treat love handles, arms, hips and thighs, buttocks, abdomen, necks and double chins.

The ability to destroy fat cells with this treatment enables your therapist to target cellulite. There are three types of cellulite: hard, soft and edematous.

Please note: This is not a weight loss solution. Exilis works best on clients who have an active lifestyle and are looking to reduce stubborn areas of fat.

Treatment Expectations

Most clients describe the sensation of the treatment as being comparable to a pain-free, hot-stone massage. The treatment is performed as you are lying down, which makes it a relaxing treatment whereby you can wind down and switch off from the outside world.

At the start of your treatment the therapist will attach a grounding pad on your back, thigh or shoulder in order for the radio frequency energy circuit to form a connection through your body. Gel will be applied to the area to aid the handpiece movement over the skin.

Pre-Care Instructions

Best results are achieved when clients are hydrated as the radiofrequency technology within the treatment is attracted to water.

Therefore, we ask that you drink the recommended 2 litres of water the day before, day of and day after treatment. The Exilis Elite device can measure the amount of water you have consumed, if enough water has not been consumed, the machine will not work and the treatment will be forfeited.

Before and during your course, for best results, please avoid alcohol, caffeine and smoking and adopt a low-fat diet. If caffeine is consumed, please consume one glass of water for each caffeinated drink.

Post Care Instructions

  • We ask that you continue to drink a minimum of two litres of water per day for the duration of your course in between treatment appointments.
  • Do not apply ice or ice water to the area as it is important to keep heat in the skin for as long as possible.
  • You may massage the treatment area post treatment to aid the breakdown of fat cells.
  • Please do not drink alcohol during the course of this treatment
  • Please note: You may notice some redness to the skin immediately following the treatment but this typically subsides within 15-30 minutes.
  • Skin may be slightly tender to the touch for a little time afterwards, but this is not always the case.
  • Very rare risks reported include numbness, swelling (oedema), blistering, scarring, allergic reactions and nausea.

Expected Time Frame

In order to benefit from this treatment, a client must undergo a course of treatment. Courses of Exilis Elite include a consultation and 4 sessions, scheduled 7-10 days apart. Each treatment of a specific body part usually takes between 15-30 minutes. Layering techniques can be added for a further cost. We can layer at different levels to target, fat, cellulite and skin.

Results are dependent on client individuality, with some clients noticing visible results after just one treatment. It is advised that optimal results will be seen 3 months following the final treatment of a course.

You should expect to have this treatment once every 12 – 18 months to maintain results. The minimum amount of time you can return for a treatment is every 3 months.

Medical Contraindications

As long as you are generally healthy and don’t have any serious health concerns (e.g., liver, kidney or heart disease, cancer etc.), skin diseases or active infections in the area proposed for treatment, there are few medical reasons why you should not undergo this treatment. If you have a history of cold sores, you may need to take medication before treatment can be done.

If you have a pacemaker or any other implanted metal (e.g. hip joints) or electronic device (e.g., internal defibrillator) then you will not be suitable for the Exilis treatment due to the delivery of radiofrequency energy to the body which could heat up these items. If you are planning a treatment to the facial area then metal dental braces may be a contra-indication for treatment due to the path of the radiofrequency from the treatment site to the grounding pad.

This treatment is not advised for pregnant or breast-feeding women.

If you have had ablative laser skin resurfacing or a deep chemical peel in the area to be treated in the last three months then you will be advised to wait before commencing an Exilis Elite treatment. If you have been treated with Accutane® in the last 12 months you will also be advised on a delay before you start your Exilis programme.
